server doesn't respond!

Postby Beholder » Sun Jan 19, 2003 3:04 pm

I installed the mame32 kaillera version. Everything seems to be woking fine, I get a list of all the servers, but when I double click (or press connect) on one of them, nothing happens... there's this little status window cooming up, telling me "connecting" or "logging in", it's really fast.. (I'm on cable) and than, nothing...

I tried different servers, try to reinstall, even tried different clients (kawaks for example) but with no success.
any ideas? :(

what firewall are you using ? some of them cause problems....

zonealarm

I am using zone alarm firewall, but when asked, I gave kaillera access to the net. It dones't work even when I turn Zonealarm off, so I don't think that's the reason...

Are you using ICS ? if not... it could even be possible your ISP blocks certain ports.

What is ICS?
and what port does Kaillera runs on? I should call them and find out... do you have any more ideas?

ICS is internet connection sharing..... where one computer give another computer net access by sharing the same connection via an lan.

i believe kaillera uses UDP ports... not sure which numbers tho.... think only christophe knows that...

(edit) got an feeling it may be 27888 or 37888 but don't quote me on that...

Kaillera uses TCP port 27888 for some of the initial stuff, but the main communication is done over UDP ports. Random ports. Could be one of many thousands. So you have to open up all UDP ports.

Why doesnt Someone CREATE A VERSION where u can slect say 3 or 4 UDP ports at which it uses for those running firewalls if this is the case

I have to run one and opening 27888 doesnt seem to cook the cake
